SHARING FIKA AT NORDIC-CALIFORNIA FOOD SYMPOSIUM
It was an honour to share Fika – Your Key to Sweden at a symposium that explored Nordic and California Food in the broadest and most creative ways imaginable! At UC Berkeley, 7-8 November 2025.
The symposium was co-hosted by the Nordic Center and the Center for Responsible Business at Berkeley-Haas. Organizers Mark Sandberg and Robert Strand had spared no effort in putting together a program for all of us to learn, share, connect, and experience.
It was rewarding that my presentation even gave a few of my fellow Swedes some aha moments. And what a delight to meet colleagues from my part of the world – Paul Svensson and Ruth Osborne, who gave an extraordinary keynote; Jonatan Leer, who delved into gender issues in the culinary world; Kristoffer Åström, the Sami chef; and Roberth Sundell, the resident Swedish chef who cooked for us.
I returned home with inspiration, new insights, new connections – and appreciation.
