FIKA TAKES ITS PLACE AT SPEAKER'S SPRING DINNER 2026

An invitation to the SpeakerSpring Dinner thanks to Fika – what a great recognition of a Swedish cultural treasure!

The Speaker's Spring Dinner is one of the most prestigious events in the Swedish parliamentary calendar. Hosted annually by the Speaker of the Riksdag, it complements other key traditions such as the Opening of the Riksdag and the Speaker's Autumn Dinner.

The Speaker himself is well known for taking Fika seriously. His seemingly endless Fika meetings with party leaders during the prolonged government formation process following the 2018 general election became part of modern Swedish political history. In 2024, he also proposed Fika as the Swedish way of celebrating National Day on 6 June. When I complimented him on these achievements, his wife Helena stepped forward to reveal that she had been the one baking the pastries.

I was delighted to introduce myself to my fellow guests using The Fika Academy's beautifully designed new business card, created by graphic designer Cecilia Kusoffsky.

Another Fika guest at this year's Spring Dinner was Carla Antonia von Hofsten, winner of Hela Sverige bakar 2023. We found each other immediately – over a cup of coffee.
